Slag is a by-product of the blast furnace ironmaking process. During the formation of slag, iron oxide is reduced to metallic iron at high temperature, and impurities such as silica and alumina in iron ore react with lime to form a melt containing silicate and aluminosilicate as main components, it has a high potential activity and hydraulic hardness.
Therefore, after the slag is ground into ore powder, it can be directly incorporated into cement and concrete according to a certain proportion. It is currently the choice of many cement and commercial enterprises to improve product performance and reduce costs.
Regarding the problem of using vertical mill or ball mill for slag grinding, it is a common practice in the industry to use vertical mill.
The following is the comparison of vertical mill and ball mill:
First of all, from the floor space, the vertical mill has a vertical structure, which integrates crushing, drying, grinding and grading and conveying. The layout is compact and the floor space is small. The ball mill has a horizontal structure,the floor space is large. Vertical mill's floor space is about 50% of the ball mill, which can greatly reduce the construction cost of the previous period.
Secondly, vertical mill directly grinds the material on the grinding disc through the grinding roller, which has low energy consumption and can save energy consumption by about 30% to 40% compared with the ball mill.
Thirdly, from the material point of view, the important parts of the vertical mill are made of high-quality steel and high-performance wear-resistant materials. The wearing parts are used for a long time; the ball mill liner and the steel ball have large loss, high replacement frequency and high operating cost in the later period. .
Finally, from the environmental protection, the vertical mill operates under the negative pressure system and is equipped with environmental measures such as pulse dust collector and noise reducer. The dust emission concentration can be controlled at 20mg/m3, which is in line with national environmental protection regulations; while the ball mill works with large noise which has a greater impact on the surrounding environment.
